Frame Analysis
- This is our production logo that we thought long and hard about and eventually we used our most simplistic idea which were the first letter of our names combined. We had tried to overcomplicate things by coming up with fancy names that were silly. This name is simple yet effective as the audience can clearly see the production companies name on the screen.
- This is our establishing shot , it was taken in a park which was very quiet. The ground looks as if it is full of ruble and this creates meaning to show the conditions and location where the actors are in this opening sequence.
- This is a shot of the location where we filmed in the woods. The next frames contain the actors that were used in the opening sequence which is why it says " STARRING'. This was quite an important shot as it adds to the mysterious thriller we tried to create.
- This frame displays the brick that eventually is suppose to be used to kill the other character Callum.
- Moments before the main action this a shot before it takes place.
- The name we decided to give our mysterious thriller. LOCATION H. H which stands for Hounslow as our time was limited we only had a certain amount of time to think of a name for our thriller.
- The plot twist that changes when Teejay the one who was wielding the brick is now on the floor....
- The closing shot where Teejay lies on the floor, but who killed him ..... That lies a mystery.
We used different shots in order to create meaning and make this opening more mysterious. As you can see in frame 9 where Thomas is holding the shot gun that is a close up. We used this to make this the main focus point of the scene. In frames 5 and 6 the brick is in the mid shot to show that the supposed murder weapon is noticed by the audience and this creates a element of suspense.
There are many aspects of ‘Mise-en-Scene’ incorporated in this thriller opening. For camera angle, shots and movement, we used a wide variety of shots such as low angle shots, close up shots and mid shots. These shots are designed to make the audience feel as if they were there right next to the man on lying dead on the floor in the last frame.
Our thriller was a mysterious thriller and we did follow the general stereotypes of a mysterious thriller by highlighting the possible murder weapons . We also changed the person who was getting murdered up so it added a bit of suspense as the audience would be expecting Teejay to murder Callum however they did not see Thomas coming and shooting Teejay, but the other twist is who killed Teejay , it could of been Callum or Thomas and thats where the opening ends in order to make the audience wanting to see the full film.
