Protagonist (Callum) First Character Introduced :
We thought a male character would be perfect to conform to the stereotype of a mysterious thriller character. Although mysterious thrillers contain both males and females as the main protagonist we thought by using a male it would make it more realistic in terms of our opening. Initially we wanted to use a older female to be our main character. We later found this was unsuitable as we were limited in terms of time and choice so to get a specific actor was too time consuming. Therefore we decided to use what we have instead of getting someone outside of our group to act. This allowed us to play around a lot more with what we had in order to make Callum the ideal character in our view.
The social groups represented here are age. The protagonist is representing a age group from 16-20 and you can visually see this through the use of costume. However initially our age range to represented was 40-50. Looking back on that idea we found it would not have been suitable at all as we are at the age of 17-18 so we wouldn't be able to present a real representation of 40-50 year olds. We chose to make the protagonist our age so that we can relate to them more and adapt the character according to what we think and this made it easier. Secondly in terms of audience , i think that because Callum is quite young and he is stereotypically a average teen it may attract more viewers.

Similarities and differences :
Second character ( Teejay) :
This is an older male support character who is introduced a minute within the sequence after the tittle. This character is a relatively young detective. He is in the social group of age again, most mysterious thrillers with a investigator contain a old male who investigates murders but we were again unable to find what we needed so again we used what we had and used Teejay. We knew that Teejay would be a great supporting actor as he could help Callum represent social groups and attract an audience. Teejay in real life is actually 17 however he looks so much older than he actually looks so he was perfect for the role its self. Teejay is representing more of an older character, this means he is likely to attract more of an older target audience who are within the age ranges 30-40 year olds. He is the stereotypical white adult male this type of character is usually expected to play the role of an authority figure.
A similarity with actor Robert Downey in (Sherlock Homes, 2009)

- Both are investigating a murder.
- They both look like the stereotypical investigator role.
Differencers :
- Age, one is much older than the other.
